Community involvement approach perceives sex and erotic workers as equal and active participants in the work of Pro-tukipiste.
We organize different types of group activities where people who are (or have been) sex and erotic workers can participate depending on what is their own interests are. Peer activists and workers plan and carry out this work together.
You are welcome to join us! Get in contact if you want to know more or if you have a good idea that you would like to carry out together. Contact details for workers are here.
Activities in Helsinki
Our Multicultural peer group meets every Tuesday from 2 – 4 pm. This group is open for anyone who does (or has done) sex and erotic work. Pro-tukipiste workers are present in the group to help with translating when needed. During the group meetings people share their experiences and talk about issues that are important in their lives e.g. safety in sex work or how Finnish society operates. Sometimes we invite guest speakers with specialist knowledge to visit the group on topics such as sexuality, laws or welfare. We organize nature trips, visit cultural events and learn to know about services available in Helsinki area. The main thing is to spend time together in a relaxing and nonjudgmental company. The group always starts with a homemade meal cooked by our peer workers.
PRO-Group, a self-help group is aimed for people who can communicate in Finnish or English. You can come along to the group regardless of being just a beginner or a veteran in the business or you might also be considering giving up sex work. There is no outsiders attending the group and all of us have sex work experience. We feel that it is important to share experiences in a safe environment. The group is confidential and we do not speak about anybody’s personal issues to outsiders.
PRO-Group meets in Pro-tukipiste Helsinki on every second Thursday at 5-7.30 pm. The first PRO-group meeting for the spring 2020 meets on the 23rd of January.
English study group meets every Friday from 2 – 4 pm. Do you want to improve your English and activate your language skills? And discuss in English about current affairs? Our open discussion group is run by a volunteer English language teacher. During lessons, we utilize ESLlibrary materials that offer a wide variety of online materials focusing on global topics with political, social and environmental themes.
